Bug: Timeline Drag & Drop Movement Not Working
## Bug Report **Severity**: High **Environment**: Production (equilibrium.pentools.fi), Chrome 128, Safari 17, Firefox 129 **Reported by**: Alex Korhonen (Silver tier creator) ## Description When attempting to drag a task card on the project timeline to reschedule it, the card does not move. The drag handle appears visually (cursor changes to grab), but releasing the mouse does not update the task's start/end dates. The task snaps back to its original position. ## Steps to Reproduce 1. Open any project with at least one task on the timeline 2. Click and hold a task card 3. Drag it to a different date range 4. Release the mouse button **Expected**: Task moves to the new date range and persists. **Actual**: Task snaps back to original position. No error in console, no network request fired. ## Impact PMs cannot reschedule tasks visually. They have to open each task, manually edit the start/end date fields, and save. This is significantly slower and defeats the purpose of the visual timeline. ## Initial Investigation The drag event listener (`onMouseDown` on `.task-card`) fires correctly, but the `onMouseUp` handler that should trigger the API call to update dates is not being reached. The issue appears to be in the event propagation — the timeline container's `onScroll` handler may be intercepting the mouseup event when the timeline is panned during a drag.

Confirmed working on my end too — just tested it on a live project. Drag and drop works perfectly after scrolling now. Thanks for the quick fix! 🎉
Deployed to production. Verified on Chrome 128, Safari 17, and Firefox 129 — drag and drop now works correctly after scrolling the timeline. Tasks persist at the new position. Closing this as resolved.
Fix merged. The onScroll handler no longer blocks mouseup propagation. Added an integration test that performs a drag after scrolling the timeline to ensure the drop event fires correctly. Moving to testing.
Thanks for the detailed report, Alex. I've confirmed the repro on Chrome and Safari. Root cause identified: the timeline container's onScroll handler was calling stopPropagation(), which swallowed the mouseup event when the timeline was panned during a drag. The drag-end handler never fired, so no API call was made and the task snapped back. Fix in progress.
That was a needed fix, at least me and the team like to move fast:)
